ON PERCEIVING
So we have definitely reached the next level. While I spent the past ten days in such flow and adoration of the divine, I am currently very much seeing just the material. Which isn’t surprising, since the next level of anything always feels like another beginning. But this is exactly what I came for is it not? How to balance the material and the spiritual. How to work, how to speak, how to dance with the divine always as a driving force and yet remain (or rather become more) grounded and empowered.
And I realize how all of this must seem to the observer. I realize how easy it is to impose perceptions that are ultimately denying the profound in any of what is happening here. All of them are understandable and logical if you trace back their origin. I studied Psychology after all so there is an appreciation from my side for the way the brain works and is tricking the conscious part of our being into easily recognizable and perceptible patterns. But these patterns aren’t the reality. They are a reality. Who knows how many realities are out there. How many realities aren’t perceptible to us. Be it within another’s mind or beyond even our material realm.
And while there might not be empirical evidence of other realms to satisfy those fixed on reason, there is proof in the way time behaves differently in different places. Even the convinced atheist will not be able to deny the altered experience of passing time on holy grounds. If I am being honest this was one of the many pieces of the puzzle that have shown me the way here. The way time just did not exist in Marrakech earlier this year. Because when you do not have the relativity of time to hold on to, every moment melts with the eternal. You can physically feel this. Without having to understand anything – you feel this overwhelming sense of calm, of peace, of utter content. And you start wondering whether there is something going on in that place that you are not able to conceive.
